Steve Sawyer, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.

Primary Therapist

Steve began at Vista in 2001. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University, and a Master's Degree from the University of Utah. Prior to working at Vista, Steve was the Program Director for adolescent services at Odyssey House of Utah, a community based treatment program for 20 years. He has experience working with adolescents in a psychiatric hospital setting dealing with mental health and substance abuse emergencies. Steve helped develop a family program at the Utah State Prison for inmates transitioning back to community life and facilitated group therapy sessions with the inmates and their families. Other work with Utah Corrections involved co-authoring a substance abuse treatment track for half-way houses. Steve provided group, individual, and family therapy for inmates at the half-way houses. Steve came to Vista so that he could leave many of the administrative duties that seemed to take more and more of his time. Working at Vista has allowed him to provide more direct therapy services to adolescents and their families.
